Parents as Partners works with both custodial and non-custodial parents to assist in removing barriers to financial and emotional responsibility, and promote and increase the payment of child support. Services include employment development, parenting skills development, counseling, and assistance with child support-related issues to enable non-custodial parents to better meet the financial and emotional needs of their children and co-parent effectively with the custodians of their children. Case management and linkages to community resources providing the needed services are provided.

Service delivery focuses on three areas:

  • Increasing parental involvement and nurturing of mothers and fathers:
    • Relationship building
    • Parenting skills
  • Reducing barriers to positive financial and emotional responsibility:
    • Employment, job readiness, vocational training, and education
    • Individual and group counseling/support (for example, the monthly DADS group)
    • Mediation services
  • Promoting and increasing the payment of child support:
    • Assistance with child support-related issues
