In-Home Family Services
Specialized Services include:
Continuing Child Protective Services - referrals received via CPS Intake
following indicated or unsubstantiated finding of abuse or neglect where children
remain at risk.
Family Preservation - serves children at high risk for placement in foster
care, providing a greater intensity of services with more frequent home visits.
Triage - involves preventive services aimed at intervening before abuse/neglect
occurs, with referrals received from CPS Intake, Multi-Disciplinary / Local Coordinating
Council or community.
Note: Triage is unique to Carroll County
Family Services Intake/Services to Families with Children - is a program
initiated by a client’s request for assistance.
Child Protective Services Intake - staff complete investigations on open cases
and reports received within 3 months of closing.
Parent Aide Services - therapeutic parent aides work with social workers as a
team to provide emotional supports & concrete assistance as a service plan.

IHFS Worker Activities include:
- Continuously assess family needs,
- Monitor children’s safety,
- Provide clinical intervention,
- Deliver direct services, and
- Link the family to appropriate resources in agency or community to reduce factors, which place children at risk.
