FAMILY INVESTMENT

People need to independently support themselves and their families

  1. TCA caseload reduction as of June 99 for Cecil is 81.5%.
  2. DLLR contract placed 120+ agency customers in jobs during FY ’99.
  3. In partnership with Cecil Community College, FIA placed 248 TCA customers in jobs – 84 of which were applicants diverted from welfare through up-front job placement services.
  4. Salisbury State University Research Project: CCDSS representing Maryland – was one of 10 states in the nation awarded a grant to study rural welfare-to-work strategies.
  5. Family Investment staff along with Services and the Domestic Violence Shelter staff spoke to a group of federal regional directors from Health and Human Services regarding our procedure for interaction between TANF (TCA) and Domestic Violence. They want to use Cecil as a national model.
  6. University of Delaware project: Studied and made suggestions for improvement on reception area customer flow which impacted Family Investment and Services staff.
  7. Provided a nationally known team motivational speaker (Dale Henry) for all DSS staff and stakeholders.
