JOB SEARCH

With the arrival of Welfare Reform, applicants for TCA are now required to seek work or perform voluntary work experience as well as pursue child support. Employment Resource Center (ERC) encompasses the total package of work location and retention services available to applicants for TCA including work experience. The components are designed to assist clients in becoming independent:


  1. In the Job Search Class, job finding, keeping, and coping skills are taught.
  2. Referrals are made to local employers.
  3. Additional employers are recruited who will hire recipients or accept work experience placements.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance may be provided for families to resolve certain crisis situations. Applicants for this program are interviewed on a walk-in basis and new applications are processed expeditiously.

TEMPORARY CASH ASSISTANCE (TCA)

Financial assistance to dependent children and their eligible relatives to provide for food, shelter, clothing, and living expenses during a limited time of need.

TEMPORARY DISABILITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (TDAP)

The purpose of this program is to offer a small monthly allowance to those adults (with no children under 18 residing with them) who are disabled for 3 months or more. Disabled adults requesting this financial assistance may also qualify for Food Stamps, Medical Assistance or Primary Adult Care (PAC).

PUBLIC ASSISTANCE TO ADULTS (PAA)

This program provides a monthly payment of State funds to an individual who has:

  1. Been certified for a licensed assisted living program, CARE home or Department of Health and Mental Hygiene rehabilitative residence and
  2. The allowable needs costs are greater than the total of their countable income.

PURCHASE OF DAY CARE SERVICES FOR CHILDREN (POC)

Services are provided to families to subsidize the cost of day care for low-income family members who are employed, in training, or in school. Children must be placed in licensed day care centers or registered day care homes. Informal arrangements in the children's own homes or the home of a relative may also be subsidized. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE (MA)

The purpose of this program is to assist low-income persons and families who cannot meet the costs associated for necessary medical and health services.
PRIMARY ADULT CARE (PAC)
The purpose of this program is to assist low-income persons who do not qualify for other Medical Assistance programs. This program is limited to accessing the person's primary care physician, mental health coverage, and prescription coverage.

MARYLAND CHILDREN'S HEALTH INSURANCE PROGRAM (MCHIP)
This program is a specialized Medical Assistance program designed to assist pregnant women and children up through the month of their 19th birthday gain access to medical care.

FOOD STAMPS (FS)

This program assists low income persons and families by enabling them to supplement their food budgets and to provide adequate nutrition.

All Family Investment Program applications are accepted on a daily basis, week-days between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
