Future Trends
Local departments and the Department of Human Resource's staff are reviewing the delivery and effectiveness of each family preservation service model, always maintaining safety of all members as the priority. Safety and self-sufficiency are paramount in service planning with the family. Worker/aide team operated services allow for much more comprehensive and quality driven customer service, with the average timeframe being approximately six-months of planned service provision. The Social Services Administration in partnership with the local departments of social services will continue to make adjustments to service delivery to reflect best practice and safety measures for families and children. Alternative means of assessing for both risk and safety is presently being addressed for statewide use within all child welfare services. The Department of Human Resources through the local departments of social services remains committed to providing the highest quality of service to Maryland's families.
